چکیده
Owing to their diverse functional groups, antibiotics can easily form complexes with heavy metals; the complexation alters migration and transformation behavior of both metals. In this study, we investigated co-adsorption mechanism sulfamethazine (SMT) cadmium (Cd2+) metal ions created an ideal water model containing two major contaminants: ions. Combined experimental analysis interaction mechanism, results indicate heterogeneous multilayer adsorption SMT on surface activated carbon (AC). The bridging role promotes through formation SMT-Cd2+-AC ternary carbon. Characterization experiments provided further insight into Cd2+ carbon, revealing a strong correlation between Cd2+-SMT capacity. These that effects coexistence should be fully taken account when investigating environmental

Statistical physics modeling of equilibrium adsorption of cadmium ions onto activated carbon, chitosan and chitosan/activated carbon composite
The adsorption ability of activated carbon, chitosan, and chitosan/activated carbon composite for cadmium separation from aqueous solution was analyzed via statistical physical modeling. The equilibrium data were analyzed by Langmuir, Hill, double layer model, and the multi-layer model with saturation isotherm models. Results showed that the multi-layer model with saturation could well describe...
متن کاملModeling studies for adsorption of phenol and co-pollutants onto granular activated carbon prepared from olive oil industrial waste
Granular activated carbon (OSAC) which was derived from olive oil industrial solid waste was chemically activated with different concentrations of phosphoric acid. OSAC-materials were evaluated for their ability to remove phenol from aqueous solution in a batch technique. Adsorption isotherms were determined and modeled with five linear Langmuir forms, namely the Freundlich, Elovich, Temkin, Ki...
متن کاملAdsorption Mechanisms of Cadmium onto Pillared Clays and Chalcogenides
Interactions between Cd, pillared clays and chalcogenedies have been studied using nanomineralogical experiments. XRD, DSC and chemical analysis. The synchrotron-based X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) was applied to characterize the reaction phases. The mean bond lengths between, Cd-S, Fe-S, Sb-S, Cd-Cd (in chalcogenedies), Al-Cd, Cd-Ti, and Fe-Cd, (in pillared clays) were determined by XAS ...
متن کاملAdsorption of copper, lead and cadmium from aqueous solutions by activated carbon prepared from saffron leaves
Background: Industrial development has caused the release of various pollutants including heavy metals into the environment. These toxic compounds are extremely dangerous to living beings and the environment due to their non-biodegradability, severe toxicity, carcinogenicity, the ability to be accumulated in nature and the ability to contaminate groundwater and surface water. The aim of the pre...
متن کاملAdsorption of Phenolic Compounds onto the Activated Carbon Synthesized from Pulp and Paper Mill Sludge: Equilibrium Isotherm, Kinetics, Thermodynamics and Mechanism Studies
A new activated carbon was produced from pulp and paper mill sludge as a low cost precursor via chemical activation by zinc chloride. The activated carbon was successfully used for the adsorption of phenol and two of its derivatives, i.e. 2-chlorophenol and 4-nitrophenol from aqueous solutions. The characterization of the prepared activated carbon demonstrated high textural properties for the s...
